From September 2025, the Aurel Steinert Foundation will be funding the TUM GREEN TECH initiative BLUE HARVEST. Blue Harvest students are working on an innovative and sustainable technology to convert seawater into freshwater in a cost-effective and energy-efficient way using a process called Ion Concentration Polarization (ICP). The aim is to find a sustainable solution to global water scarcity problems. The technology is characterized by low pressure requirements and low energy consumption, which can also be covered by solar energy, making it particularly suitable for decentralized and resource-saving applications.
