The aim of the Green Impact Awards is to promote early-stage and ecologically sustainable start-ups and start-up ideas. The awards are intended to give teams the opportunity to make initial outlays at a low threshold, create their first prototypes and take their first steps with the reassuring feeling of monetary support. In the first phase, we focus on existing funding infrastructures and present the awards or grants through existing accelerator/incubator programs, e.g. at demo days and pitch events.

From September 2025, the Aurel Steinert Foundation will be funding the TUM GREEN TECH initiative BLUE HARVEST. Blue Harvest students are working on an innovative and sustainable technology to convert seawater into freshwater in a cost-effective and energy-efficient way using a process called Ion Concentration Polarization (ICP). The aim is to find a sustainable solution to global water scarcity problems. The technology is characterized by low pressure requirements and low energy consumption, which can also be covered by solar energy, making it particularly suitable for decentralized and resource-saving applications.
